Paralympian Jess Gallagher writes herself into sporting history
Australian Paralympian Jess Gallagher has become the first Australian athlete - Paralympian or Olympian - to win a medal at both winter and summer games.
Jess won a cycling bronze medal in the one kilometre time trial in Rio de Janeiro, riding in tandem with her pilot, Madison Janssen.
Jess, who is visionally impaired as a result of Stargardt's macular dystrophy, had the fastest time until she was overtaken at the end by Great Britain's Sophie Thornhill and the Netherlands Larissa Klaassen.
The cycling medal at Rio adds to her first medal at a winter games in the slalom at Vancouver six years ago, completing a unique double.
