Foundation Chairman Elizabeth Carr welcomed the 100 attendees, which included board members, Foundation Patron Ita Buttrose, volunteers, supporters, sponsors, members of the macular degeneration community and staff.
The achievements of the Foundation over the 2011-2012 financial year were highlighted including the success of the Merry Musicians YouTube video, the Foundation's first foray into social media.
The Foundation thanked all of its sponsors and supporters including Novartis, who was officially thanked for their outstanding support over many years with the remarkable success of the two national advertising campaigns. Another important presentation was to Dr Bamini Gopinath, recipient of the Blackmores Dr Paul Beaumont Research Fellowship 2013-14, who was officially awarded her fellowship by Neal Mercado, Director, Blackmores Institute.
As part of the celebrations, Foundation Patron Ita Buttrose spoke about her remarkable time at the Foundation, and presented all of our volunteers with a thank you gift, acknowledging their invaluable support throughout the year.
